TST to Increase Funding of its Scholarships, Bursaries and Awards
The Toronto School of Theology (TST) is pleased to announce that we will be increasing the value of our Board of Trustees Scholarships, Bursaries and Awards for this year. The Gordon M. Farquharson, Margaret E. Fleck and C. Douglas Jay scholarships, the John M. Kelly and the Marjorie Watson Powles awards, the Donald Cameron Memorial Award, and the Order of St. Lazarus Bursary, will all see increases when they are presented later this spring, says Professor Darren Dias, OP, TST’s Executive Director.
"Strong stewardship of the TST endowments, with judicious investments, has allowed us to increase the amounts we are awarding this year, which is good news for students," says Prof. Dias. "We are mindful of the challenges students are facing due to increasing costs and changes to OSAP funding, so we are pleased to be able to offer increased funding for this year." As well, TST will be awarding two each of the Fleck, Jay and Farquarson scholarships, he says.
The Allan L. Beattie Assistantship, which funds the stipend for the Student Assistant to the Editors of the Toronto Journal of Theology, will increase, as will the amount of the Michael Steinhauser Scholarship, awarded to a currently registered TST student with the highest academic achievement in the first year of studies in a graduate degree program. Two bursaries awarded to Doctor of Ministry students - the J.T. Weir Memorial Fund and the Estate of Charles Gundy Fund - will also offer more funding to the recipients.
Criteria for applying and the online application form can be found here.
Applications for the awards open on Monday, March 9 and will close on Tuesday, March 31 at 4:00 pm. The scholarships, bursaries and awards mentioned are limited to current TST students.
