Description

Psychospiritual Care and Therapy Practicum 1 provides students with opportunities to develop the arts and skills required for providing competent spiritually integrated psychotherapy. The course explores both theoretical and applied aspects spiritually-integrated psychotherapy at a foundational level (CASC/ACSS). It is located at the intersection of the theology of caring, grief and loss, and social sciences.  The unit emphasizes multidimensional assessments and the different application of spiritual, therapeutic, supportive, educational, and strategies for individuals. Gender, professional identity and professional ethics, and formal spiritual care and counselling in Canada are also examined. The course will highlight significant aspects of the theologies/spirituality of spiritually integrated psychotherapy and provide students with opportunities to develop strategies to improve their skills as psychospiritual therapists and further their own professional development.  There will be opportunities for students to gain 125 DCC hours. However, it is up to the students to ensure this.

Pre-Requisites Completion of 5 courses incl. EMP1513H and EMP3521H taken within MPS degree at Emmanuel College, or permission of instructor
