Description

An introduction to the language of the Hebrew Bible/Old Testament. Study of basic grammar and vocabulary in order to read easier prose and poetic texts. This course is taught with a "communicative" pedagogy, by which students learn to read, write, and even speak Biblical Hebrew. The ultimate goal of the communicative approach is to sensitize language learners to Biblical Hebrew as a human language so that the biblical texts can be read with greater sensitivity. Note that there is an additional tutorial hour that students may attend.
