What is the nature of God’s grace as gift? What part does it play in how the apostle Paul describes salvation? If grace is freely given to those who do not deserve it, does this mean that grace is completely unconditional or is this to misunderstand grace? How does grace as the gift of God empower the transformation of individuals and the life of the church? And how does it establish patterns of giving as well as receiving in the Christian life?

These questions, which reflect the importance down the centuries of grace as a theme in the church’s proclamation of the gospel, have again come into renewed focus through John Barclay’s landmark study, Paul and the Gift (2015).

This event at Wycliffe College is intended particularly for graduate students, professors and theologically engaged pastors and lay leaders.

Registration is capped at 90 attendees. Students receive a discounted registration cost.

About the Colloquium

The Scripture and Theology Colloquium is a semi-annual gathering of faculty, pastors, students, and others who are interested in exploring the dynamic interactions of scripture and theology. Featuring a selection of world-class experts, the colloquia will alternate in focus, sometimes addressing larger theological topics and other times considering a specific book or chapter of the Bible.
