TST at a Glance

The Toronto School of Theology is a consortium of seven theological member schools and is affiliated with the University of Toronto. Each of TST's member colleges and affiliated member institutions is an independent, degree-granting institution with its own distinct history, denominational connection, community spirit, and theological approach. Because each takes its own institutional mission and values very seriously, we resist the kind of homogenization that can sometimes happen in a unitary department or school. A fundamental principle of TST is the cultivation of a diverse ecumenical environment.

TST's member schools are:

  • Emmanuel College (United Church of Canada)
  • Knox College (The Presbyterian Church in Canada)
  • Regis College (Roman Catholic, Jesuit)
  • St. Augustine's Seminary (Roman Catholic, Diocesan)
  • University of St. Michael's College, Faculty of Theology (Roman Catholic, Basilian)
  • University of Trinity College, Faculty of Divinity (Anglican)
  • Wycliffe College (Anglican, Evangelical)

Six colleges are located in downtown Toronto on the St. George campus of the University of Toronto and all within walking distance of each other. St. Augustine's Seminary is located in Scarborough, but holds most of its classes on the St. George campus. TST's administrative offices are also located on the St. George campus.

The TST consortium offers a range of professional and academic degrees. Some degrees are primarily professional in character, while others are oriented to general theological studies or research. All degree programs operate at the post-baccalaureate level, and are conferred conjointly by the University of Toronto and the member college in which the student is registered. A few certificates and diplomas are non-conjoint and are awarded independently by some of the member schools.
