New Principal of Knox College Nominated: Dr. Ernest van Eck

The Board of Governors of Knox College is pleased to announce the nomination of Dr. Ernest van Eck to be the new Principal of Knox College. Dr. van Eck is an ordained minister, an academic administrator, and a teacher and researcher in theology.

Dr. van Eck’s nomination follows an extensive search for candidates within and beyond The Presbyterian Church in Canada (PCC). He was the unanimous choice of the Search Committee and the Knox College Board of Governors to be the next Principal. His nomination is subject to approval by the PCC General Assembly at its meeting in June. If approved, it is expected that Dr. van Eck will commence his term as Principal in Fall 2022.

As Dr. John Vissers comes to the end of his term as Principal, he leaves Knox College well-positioned for the future. With a growing student enrolment and a bold strategic plan for the years ahead, there is every confidence that Dr. van Eck has the credentials and experience to lead Knox through the next stage of its journey. Dr. Vissers will assist with a smooth transition for the incoming Principal before returning to a full-time faculty role as Professor of Historical Theology.
