With much joy and anticipation, Regis College announced that Dr. Gordon Rixon, SJ, has been named President Designate of Regis College, subject to confirmation by the Congregation for Catholic Education of the Vatican. He was unanimously recommended by the Regis College Presidential Search Committee and subsequently confirmed by its Governing Council. Erik Oland, SJ, Chancellor of Regis College, and Peter Warrian, Chair of the Regis College Governing Council, noted that with the formal launch of the new federation of Regis College with the University of St. Michael's College, Faculty of Theology, July 1, 2022, Dr. Gordon’s long and distinguished association with Regis, as well as his personal leadership qualities, will ensure a bright future for Regis College.

Fr. Thomas Worcester, SJ, will complete his term as President of Regis College on June 30, 2022. In his time at Regis College, Fr Tom raised the profile of studies in Jesuit history at Regis and the University of Toronto, helped to oversee Regis’ response to the COVID-19 pandemic, and was critical in the federation process with the University of St Michael’s College. He will assume a professorship at a Jesuit university in the U.S. north-east in the 2022–23 academic year.
