Conversion and Pastoral Praxis: Tools for Effective Leadership

A first dimension of this course invites students to reflect on contemporary challenges in the practice of ministry (parish, school, health-care, prison, social services, etc.). A second dimension introduces students to Bernard Lonergan's theology of conversion as a potential avenue toward addressing significant challenges in ministry today. A third dimension explores the disposition, skills, and tools that facilitate conversion-centred effective leadership. This course is structured to make the intersection of theological theory and pastoral praxis explicit through inductive methods of adult learning. The Friday, July 15th lecture on conversion will be given by Prof. Robert Doran, S.J. Teaching methods: Seminars, lectures, case studies, group discussion, readings. Means of Evaluation: Class participation, seminar leadership, develop 1 case study from experience, final integration paper.
