Fr. Louis Roy OP, Professor of Theology at Dominican University College in Ottawa

Born in the city of Québec, Canada, Fr Roy is a member of the Dominican Order and holds a doctorate from Cambridge University. He taught at the grass-root level and at the Institute of Pastoral Studies in Montréal for seven years, and at Boston College for twenty years, before assuming his current position in 2006.

An exhibition of nine volumes from the Regis College Rare Book Collection recalling the Restoration of the Society of Jesus, August 7, 1814 will be displayed in the Regis College Library from Tuesday, September 2 until Friday, October 31, 2014. The selection will rotate bi-weekly.

The provenance of these volumes trace pre- and post-restoration Jesuit activities in present-day Canada, and notably with the Anishnabek people of Wikwemikong, Manitoulan Island, Ontario.

Gerald McDermott, Ph.D., is the Jordan-Trexler Professor of Religion at Roanoke College, where he teaches courses in the history of Christianity and Christian theology of world religions. He has written, co-written or edited fifteen books and scores of articles. He is also Distinguished Senior Fellow at the Baylor Institute for Studies of Religion, and Research Associate, Jonathan Edwards Centre Africa, University of the Free State, South Africa.
