An online form used to apply for Academic Doctoral Degree Programs.
Application Instructions
- Please complete all sections of the Application Form.
- The following materials are required for your application to be considered complete:
- The completed application form and an application fee of $100.00 CAD payable by cheque drawn from a Canadian of US account made out to the “Toronto School of Theology” or by money order.
- A brief statement outlining what aspects of theology you wish to study at TST. This statement should be specific enough to indicate that you would bring an appropriate level of insight and purpose to your studies, but it should not be so narrow that it raises concerns as to whether TST would be able to provide adequate resources and supervision.
- Official transcripts of all post-secondary studies, to be sent directly by the institutions to the address below.
- Two letters of academic reference to be sent directly to the address below. TST does not provide a letter of reference form but asks that referees write a letter in which they comment candidly on the candidates' qualifications to pursue and complete graduate studies.
- For students whose mother tongue is not English, evidence of ability to comprehend, speak and write English at the graduate level.This evidence may be either (i) graduation with an Arts degree from a University where the language of instruction and examination is English or (ii) a satisfactory score in the http://www.toefl.org/ (TOEFL). The score required for students who take the computer-based test is 250. For those who take the internet-based test, a total score of 100 is required, with a minimum of 22 on the writing section and a 22 on the speaking section. A score of 600, with a 5.0 in the Test of Written English (TWE) is the minimum requirement for those who take the paper-based TOEFL. The TOEFL Bulletin of Information and Registration Forms can be obtained in a number of cities outside the U.S. through American embassies or consulates, or offices of the U.S. Information Services (USIS).
- If your master’s degree did not include a thesis, you are required to submit a research paper of at least 30 pages as evidence of your independent research and writing ability.
- For all advanced degree programs, application may be made as early as November 1st. and no later than January 15th. Late applications received on or before March 31st will be considered if space permits.
Notes:
- TST does not consider applications requesting entrance into it programs at the mid-point of the academic year (January).
