John Webster (1955–2016)

The news of John Webster’s death, at the age of 60, has shocked and grieved me. Most folks connected with TST, if they knew him at all, knew him as a professor at Wycliffe College from 1986 to 1996. During that period I was a colleague, friend, and admirer.

Knox College, a Toronto School of Theology member college, announced that The Rev. Dr. Dorcas Gordon, Principal of the College, will leave her postion after 18 years as Principal and 24 total years at the College. Professor Gordon informed the knox College Board of Governors at its February meeting of her desire to take her planned sabbatical during the 2017-2018 academic year with the intention that 2016-2017 would be her final year as Principal of Knox College. The Board accepted her intention to resign as noted above and has begun the process of transition.

The Toronto Journal of Theology (TJT) is delighted to announce the appointment of Bruce Worthington, a doctoral student in theological studies at Wycliffe College in the University of Toronto, as its editorial assistant for 2016–2018.

The position is funded in large part from an endowment in memory of Allan L. Beattie, QC, for many years the chair of the Board of Trustees of the Toronto School of Theology (TST).

We are pleased to share some good news! On May 9, 2016, the Executive committee of the Governing Council of the University of Toronto approved the Toronto School of Theology's proposal for a MA in Theological Studies. This is the highest level of approval at the University of Toronto. Next, the proposal will be submitted to the Ontario Universities Council on Quality Assurance (Quality Council) and Ministry of Training Colleges and Universities (MTCU) for final approval to commence.
